Quote: al-Imam as-Suhrawardi

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu…

As I was listening to a Dars of the Hikam (of ibn Ata’illah al-Iskandari) explained by al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah preserve him and benefit us by his knowledge and states, Amin), which are available here…

Sharh al-Hikam al-Ata’iyyah

… I was reminded of a post by Shaykh Khalil Moore where he quoted a verse attributed to Imam as-Suhrawardi (may Allah be pleased with him):

“Imitate those of nobility, even if you be not from them.
Verily, imitation of those of nobility is success!”

Tashabbah bil-kiram in lam takun minhumu
Inna al-tashabbuha bil-kirami falaahu!

Shaykh Khalil went on by stating…

Daleel is nice, and references are great, but as you know and understand, it is best to follow, and then ask questions later (when dealing with the men of God, scholars of the highest calibre (may Allah benefit us through, by, and with their states, knowledge, and gazes)

I will, insha Allah, continue this post soon, and post an excerpt of a Dars of Shaykh AbdulAziz Ahmed, on the Hawl of al-Habib Umar bin Ahmed bin Sumeit, explaining this issue…

Barakallah Fikum…

Please keep me in your duas,
